«Knorr-Bremse KAMA», joint venture between «KAMAZ» and the German concern «Knorr-Bremse», is preparing to start production of a new line of assembly of viscous cooling oscillation extinguishers for cranked engine shafts KAMAZ Р6.
The line includes the only laser welding plant in Russia by German manufacturer Arnold Maschinenfabrik GmbH with a capacity of 6 kW.
Inside the welding station the sub-assembled part is placed by the manipulator on the support and moved to the welding position where it is fixed. The technique step-by-step performs a permanent welding compound of components in the 360-degree range. All stages of welding are accompanied by control of the quality of welds and free rotation of flywheel. From the station, the part is moved to the installation to fill with silicone, where the automatic inspection for tightness, measured volume, calculated and poured the necessary amount of silicone. After that, the plugs are welded into the holes to fill, the part is marked and packed.
In January 2021, Knorr-Bremse’s Central Quality Department and PJSC «KAMAZ» finally approved the line for mass production. Once the line is launched, the knee-sharp swirls will be delivered to the engine plant to be installed on the new P6 engines.
The safety and protection of the knees from the vibration of the twisting oscillations depend on viscous extinguishers. The company has been producing them since 2010, providing the need for «KAMAZ».
Currently, more than 540,000extinguishers have been produced for the current generation of KAMAZ engines.
